LinkedIn Content Strategy: The 3-Post Formula That Builds Authority Consistently

Most LinkedIn content strategies are too complicated to sustain. This 3-post formula is simple enough to execute every week and powerful enough to build real authority.

The Consistency Problem

Every LinkedIn content strategy I see fails for the same reason: it's too complicated to maintain.

A consultant sets out to publish 5 posts per week across 6 content formats. By week 3, they're posting once a week. By week 6, they've stopped.

The 3-post formula is different. It's simple enough to execute every week without a content team, specific enough to build distinct authority, and varied enough to stay interesting.

The 3 Post Types

Post 1 (Monday): The Insight Post Your original observation from the past week. Something you noticed, a pattern you saw across client calls, a lesson that surprised you.

Format: 2-line hook → 3–5 lines of development → specific application or takeaway. Goal: demonstrate expertise through genuine, original thinking.

Post 2 (Wednesday): The How-To Post A specific, actionable framework or process. Something your reader can implement today.

Format: Problem in one sentence → "Here is how to fix it:" → numbered steps (3–5) → specific outcome they can expect. Goal: build practical credibility and save in "useful" collections.

Post 3 (Friday): The Story or Social Proof Post A specific client result, a personal experience, or a case study. Concrete, specific, and narrative-driven.

Format: "A client I worked with recently…" or "Last year, I…" → what happened → what it taught you → application for the reader. Goal: build trust through proof and connection through story.

Why This Formula Works

Each post type serves a different audience readiness: Insight builds awareness of your thinking. How-To builds trust in your expertise. Story builds confidence in your results.

Together, they move someone from "I've heard of them" to "I want to work with them" without ever feeling like a sales pitch.
